Rhapsody in Green

Green 1

I was struck by the shades of green in the communal garden of a London square. In particular by the sudden proliferation of new leaves on the shrubs and bushes.

Green 3

If I'd ever wanted a visual definition of the colour Spring Green, here it was in front of me.

Green 4

New life.

I sooooo agree! I search every nook and cranny in the garden each day for the hint of green! Such a welcome sight as green breaks the earth in its quest for light. I love spring and the way everything comes alive.

How could this not be everyone's favorite color? You look at that and you just have to breathe. It's the reason I love Portland--even in the winter there's green to be had. Something about it makes you feel so calm and grounded. Nice pix!

Mmm....lovely! Whenever it's green around here in the desert, it's usually some kind of weed.

Here it's browns and yellows, and the white and scarlet of toadstools. Our native trees, with one exception, don't lose their leaves but their greens are muted and I don't expect to see greens like this for a while. We're on the long fall into autumn.

So fresh! -- I love the contrast of the lighter new shoots. A lovely study of greens.

Thank you all!

Endment, Sky, Rdl,zhoen, lj, Stephanie, Justin: Glad you enjoyed the colours as much as I did.

g: Good point. This foliage does in fact form part of a private communal garden in an upmarket area of town - so yes, I imagine the plants are pretty well looked after.

Pete: I thought about you and everyone else in the Southern Hemisphere when I was posting these pix .... but autumn has its own beauty, and I wish you a peaceful one.

Pam: Thanks for your comment and welcome!
